Job Description

Job Summary

The RAC Control Desk Personnel duties and responsibilities will consist of assisting RAC leadership in the oversight of the gym’s day-to-day operations and care. The RAC Control Desk Personnel will be responsible for assisting RAC leadership in organizing, executing, and promoting of all RAC activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome and orient visitors to the RAC and SWBTS campus, explain facility guidelines, and encourage involvement in recreational activities.

  • Oversee the safe use of the gym, weight room, aerobics room, and all areas managed by the RAC. If necessary, engage in conversation to handle disputes and/or politely enforce campus/RAC policies.

  • Monitor RAC events and promptly report any safety concerns or incidents to the RAC leadership.

  • Support the RAC leadership in organizing, leading, and promoting all RAC-sponsored programs and activities.

  • Assist in the daily operations of the facility, including event coordination and general administrative tasks.

  • Provide excellent customer service. Primarily by helping answer and monitor the RAC email, phone, and calendar.

  • Attend team meetings with the RAC leaders to review policies, procedures, and address work-related issues.

  • Communicate effectively with instructors, referees, or others and provide support as needed for their activities and classes.

  • Process sales of RAC’s concessions, memberships, and/or rentals.

  • Handle sales of snacks, beverages, and other items to RAC patrons.

  • Assist with cleaning, organizing, and inventorying RAC facilities and supplies.

  • Perform additional duties as assigned, in alignment with the needs of the facility and area of responsibility.

Supervisory/Leadership/Stewardship Responsibilities:

  • Enforce RAC rules and regulations in order to maintain and ensure safety for all RAC users.

  • Supervise and coordinate the RAC activities and personnel using the facility.

  • Assist in the training of new RAC staff members to ensure that they are familiar with their work duties.

Qualifications and Skills

  • High School level education completion.

  • Customer Service experience preferred.

  • Experience in principles, procedures of recreational & sport activities preferred.

  • Ability to demonstrate safe use as well as proper techniques of weight equipment preferred.

  • Ability to handle cash with accuracy and integrity. Cash handling experience preferred.

  • Successful completion of background check, education verification, work verification and credit check may be required.

  • Ability to provide valid proof of identity and Work Authorization in the U.S.

Physical Requirements

  • Works in an office environment.

  • Sits for extended periods of time.

  • Uses near-visual acuity in reading written documents and statistical data.

  • Uses keyboard devices and a computer monitor.

  • Utilizes analytical capabilities to gather data, provide support and resolve conflicts.

  • Exchanges information by telephone, computer, in writing and in person.

  • Must be able to carry up to 45 pounds of parts and equipment.

  • Must be able to perform occasional overhead reaching, bending, stooping, twisting, and kneeling and climb 6’ ladder.

  • Ability to work inside or outside.
