Job Summary:

The RAC Control Desk Personnel duties and responsibilities will consist of assisting the RAC/Athletic Director in the oversight and execution of SWBTS recreation intramural sports and campus recreation activities. The RAC Control Desk Personnel will be responsible assisting the Director and Managers in organizing, executing, and promoting of ALL RAC activities, e.g., Intramural Sports, Game Nights, Crafts Days, and all other RAC activities.

Essential Job Functions / Responsibilities

  • Monitor the gym, weight room, aerobics room, and any space under the RAC management to ensure their safe use.

  • Assist the RAC Director in the organization, leading, and promoting the interest of all RAC activities.

  • Assist with managing the daily operations of the facilities and the events provided by the RAC.

  • Greet new visitor to the RAC and the SWBTS campus, introduce them to other participants, explaining facility rules, and encourage their participation is recreation activities.

  • Complete and maintain the currency log for the cash register and products sold in the RAC.

  • Meet with RAC Director to discuss rules, regulations, and work-related problems.

  • Help provide for entertainment and set up related decorations and equipment for events, games and all RAC activities.

  • Communicate clearly with activity instructors and assist them in any manner possible with their activity.

  • Help with the observation of all RAC activities and notify the RAC Director if there is a concern for the safety of the participants of the activity.

  • Conduct the sale of RAC snacks, drinks, etc. to customers.

  • Assist with the maintenance, cleaning and inventory of the RAC and RAC supplies.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned and specific to area of responsibility.

Qualifications / Education:

  • High School level education completion.

  • Experience in principles, procedures of recreational & sport activities.

  • Ability to demonstrate the safe use as well as proper techniques of weight equipment.

  • Able to provide documentation of eligibility to work in the U.S.

  • Preferred cash handling experience, ability to handle cash with accuracy and integrity.

  • Successful completion of background check, MVR, and credit check may be required.

Supervision:

  • The enforcement of RAC rules and regulations in order to maintain and ensure safety for all RAC users.

  • Supervise and coordinate the RAC activities and personnel using the facility.

  • Assist in the training of new RAC staff members to ensure that they are familiar with their work duties.

  • Reports to the RAC/Athletic Director & RAC Assistant Manager(s).

Decision-Making Responsibilities:

  • Provide direction to the appropriate location of activities, events, and intramural games to RAC guest.

  • Evaluate recreation areas, facilities, and services in order to determine if they are safe to be used prior to participant use.

  • Administer basic first aid according to prescribed procedures and notify emergency medical personnel when necessary.

Exposure to Confidential Information

  • Some - Accurately record and present to the RAC Director participant complaints and the resolution of the complaint.

Physical Requirements

  • Physical able to sit and stand for long periods of time,

  • Able to use computer and move about office to interact with other staff members,

  • Able to attend meetings on site,

  • Able to bend and/or stoop,

  • Able to climb a 6’ ladder when necessary

  • Able to lift up to 45 pounds to perform tasks that may be assigned in the course of operations.

  • Must be able to carry up to 45 pounds of parts and equipment.

  • Must be able to perform occasional overhead reaching, bending, stooping, twisting, and kneeling.

  • Must be able to withstand the heat and cold of the north Texas climate.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear.

  • Frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms.

  • Occasionally required to stand, kneel, crouch, climb and balance, walk and use hands to finger, handle, or feel.

  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
