Position Summary

Provide preliminary and active care to patients and educate patients on medical conditions as directed by Clinic Physician/Director.

Primary Responsibilities 

         Obtain history from each patient and record in the medical record

         Record vital signs in the medical record and any other pertinent physical assessment

         Communicate with Clinic Physician concerning patient condition

         Perform blood draws and manage outgoing lab specimens

         Perform in-house CLIA-waved lab tests

         Perform various diagnostic and therapeutic procedures as directed by the Clinic Physician

         Assist Clinic Physician in procedures

         Assist in patient education

         Administer immunizations and therapeutic injections

         Assist in ordering and maintaining medical supplies and therapeutics for the Campus Clinic

         Perform other duties consistent with nursing licensure as designated and/or delegated by the Clinic Physician

 Supervisory Responsibilities

This position will not supervise other employees.

 Decision Making Responsibilities

Nurse will make decisions related to patient care and education based on guidelines determined by the medical field and directed by the Clinic Physician within the scope of work assigned.

 Exposure to Confidential Information

Nurse will be exposed to highly confidential Personal Health Information (PHI), which is heavily regulated by the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA).

Job Requirements/Qualifications

Candidate must be willing to work full-time, approximately 40 hours per week, have a current, active nursing license in the state of Texas, and have at least one year of experience.

Physical Requirements

         Must be able to sit, stand, stoop, bend over, squat down, and walk without difficulty or limitation.

         Must be able to use hands and arms without limitation.

         Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds from floor to waist height.

         Must have visual acuity sufficient to read a computer screen and ability to verbally communicate with patients.
