Position Summary:

Responsible for fabrication and welding of pipe and various materials.

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Cuts metal mechanically and with torch as job requires.
  2. Sees that work is done according to applicable codes.
  3. Performs gas and/or electric arc welding using proper techniques.
  4. Completes or assists in the completion of welding projects according to specifications or drawings made by supervisor and/or plans.
  5. Sees that trucks are stocked with frequently used parts.
  6. Regular on the job attendance and timeliness.
  7. May be called upon to operate heavy equipment in the course of duties.
  8. Assists in plant services and automotive tasks when welding is not needed.
  9. Seeks to learn and improve proper techniques and skills.
  10. If assigned, instructs co-workers in the proper techniques and skills to be followed.
  11. Special assignments as given by the supervisor or seminary administration.

 

Job Requirements/Qualifications:

  • Must be familiar with common hand tools.
  • Experience with oxyacetylene cutting torch, stick welding, and TIG welding is preferred.
  • A natural curiosity, great problem solving skills, good mechanical aptitude, a willingness to get dirty.
  • Naturally exhibit a servantís heart with a positive and encouraging attitude.
  • Must have good communication skills and be able to relate well to people.

Physical Requirements:

  •  Must be able to carry up to 40 pounds of parts and equipment.  
  •  Must be able to perform occasional overhead reaching, bending, stooping, twisting, and kneeling. 
  •  Must be able to work in crawlspaces and attics from time to time.  
  •  Must be able to climb ladders.  
  •  Must be able to withstand the heat and cold of the north Texas climate. 

Computer Requirements:

Basic understanding of a personal computer with knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and ability to learn vendor systems.

Driving Requirements:

Must have an acceptable driving record with a valid U.S. Driverís license.
